Quality Control in Dry Mix Mortar Production
The primary component of the cement dry mix mortar production line is ordinary Portland cement. It's crucial to monitor water secretion closely and make adjustments accordingly, particularly when utilizing Portland blast-furnace slag cement. Using low-quality cement with high alkali content is strictly prohibited. The hydration period for dry mix mortar typically spans 3 to 5 days. Depending on the season, adjustments are necessary: approximately 4 hours in spring and autumn, 5 hours during summer, and 3 hours in winter, averaging back to 4 hours overall.
Currently, to cut production costs and compete with lower pricing, some manufacturers compromise on essential cement quality control measures. Consequently, issues like poor adhesion, significant alkali reflux, empty drums, and cracking may arise, leading to numerous quality hazards during subsequent decoration and construction stages.
When selecting sand for production, three critical parameters need strict oversight: particle size distribution, mud content, and sand particle fineness. Sand grains must be durable, and particles exceeding 4.75mm in size are unacceptable, with mud content kept below 3%. Ideally, medium sand should have a fineness modulus of between 2.3 and 2.6. The cumulative sieve margin across various sieve sizes is as follows: for the 0.6mm sieve, it should exceed 70%, while for 0.3mm, it should exceed 98%, and for 0.15mm sieve, the range is generally from 85% to 95%.
With river sand sourcing becoming increasingly limited, many companies are looking towards alternative aggregates, though they must be evaluated carefully. River sand often contains impurities like mica, which, when exceeding 1%, can severely impact frost resistance and impermeability. Sand dunes frequently contain excess dust and should be thoroughly cleaned and dried prior to use. Caution is needed with mountain sand due to its higher organic impurities and reduced particle strength from intense weathering. Sea sand is generally condemned due to its salt content, which can corrode steel reinforcement materials.
In the context of dry mix mortar production, it is vital to control the water content to be below 0.5%. Excessive water can lead to clumping during storage, thus impacting usability. Throughout the production process, it’s important to rapidly elevate the temperature to desired levels, adjusting conveyor frequencies based on moisture content in the sand.
