The Panton Chair is an iconic S-shaped plastic chair designed by Verner Panton in the s. It was the world's first molded plastic chair and is considered a masterpiece of Danish design. Panton worked closely with manufacturer Vitra to produce the chair using various plastics, overcoming challenges to create the first one-piece chair without legs. Production halted in as polystyrene versions became shabby, but resumed using polyurethane foam. Vitra later used polypropylene to manufacture colorful, durable versions of Panton's revolutionary plastic chair design.
